F.A.Q.

Why  should I transfer my home/business videos to a DVD-R ?

  • VHS won’t last as long as DVD.
  • DVD has superior quality.
  • You can access certain section of a video on a DVD much faster than video on a tape.
  • DVD is much smaller in volume to store compared to a tape.
  • Once converted to DVD, you can make many copies of the DVD-R without losing any video quality.

How much video footage can fit on a DVD?
Up to 90 minutes of high quality video, and nearly 2 hours of VHS quality video. The video quality deteriorates significantly when over two hours is put on a single DVD.

Can I combine multiple video tapes to create a single DVD?
Yes, you may combine video tapes to a create a single DVD. If you will be combining video from multiple tapes for a DVD movie, give more detailed instructions and label each movie tape with an easily indentifiable title (e.g. 1,2,3). A editing fee of $7.95 will be charged for each additional tape.

Will you return my original tapes?
Yes.

Can you make copies of copyrighted material?
No.
We cannot legally convert copyrighted materials without written permission from the copyright holder. We will not convert video which we suspect (movies, music videos) is copyrighted without the proper permissions in advance.

Why will my DVD not play in my DVD player?
We encourage you to call your DVD player manufacturer to inquire about playing DVD-R formats in the machine. DVD-R media is not 100 percent compatible in all DVD players. fromVHS2DVD.com does not guarantee every player to play the DVD-R. DVD-R is supported by about 80% of all DVD players ever produced through 2001, but nearly 100% of players manufactured since 2002.
Recordable DVD compatibility issues are related to the format, media brand, and the make and model of DVD player.  Please see our Compatible Players section below to find your DVD player brand.

How long does it take to receive my DVD?
Once we have received your media, we generally ship out transferred DVDs within 4-5 business days.

What about shipping and handling?
We ship your order via UPS Ground for $8.00 or via Fed-Ex for a fee of $10.00 per order of 2 tapes.  For larger orders please call us for shipping costs. The tracking numbers will be emailed to you.

The rate  includes up to 2 hrs. of VHS transferred to a DVD-R disc. We will create an initial disc title that will come up when the disc is inserted and will set in untitled chapter marks every 4 minutes!!! Our basic fee also includes a text title printed directly onto the disc.

Is there a discount if I am getting more than one transfer?
Yes! Please call us for details. There is also a discount if you need a large number of DVD copies – for example 25-50 copies of your video for your family or clients.
